Superwoman status

The supermama is tired, and looking for her center. I am not quite sure if I know who I am anymore. Part of me is suspicious this is not uncommon ground for a relatively new mama. The question is, how do I find myself again? I had an idea of who I was before I had DS. Now I need to see if I can balance mama with student, wife, lover, writer, and crafter to name a few, and by no means in order of importance.

And speaking of importance, sleep calls.

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

no fire here. Just yo-yoing temperatures, seeing a lot of folks I know down with colds and other ailments this time of year. Just in time for the fun of various holidays. Today, 20's Christmas Eve/Day? 60's. Buh-what? You read that right.

I am currently planning what should be my lazy day.

Go pick up my free 8x10's from Walgreen's, as well as seeing what their specials are.

Salt Dough Handprint Ornaments
by Erin at 5DollarDinners.com

Ingredients

4 cups flour

1 cup salt

1 ½ cups warm water

1 Tbsp vegetable oil (optional)

Directions

Combine flour and salt in bowl. Add water until the dough becomes elastic-y and will get be formed into smaller balls. Then add oil. Add a little more flour or water as needed to make the dough easy to handle.

Form into balls so that when rolled out, they are large enough for your child's handprint. Roll dough about 1/8-1/4 inch thick. Have your child make their handprint in the dough. Press the ends of each finger to be sure the print is impressed well into the dough. Use a drinking straw to make a small hold in the disk so that it can be used as an ornament.

Bake at 200 degrees for at least 30 minutes, until the dough becomes hard. Remove from oven and cool on a cooling rack.

Once cook, the ornament can be painted with acrylic paints, written on with a marker or covered with glitter clue. The possibilities are endless!

Once the paints and glues have dried, spray the top side with a clear acrylic glaze. Let dry and spray the other side as well. Hang with a wire ornament hanger or decorative ribbon.

Variations: Add 1 package of Kool Aid in with the salt and flour to change the color of the ornament. Use cookie cutters and cut out shapes instead of making handprints.

Great way to mark baby's first holiday season / Christmas / Winter etc.

Off to continue to be superwoman, while the bebe sleeps :D

Is that a brick wa...*ow*

Ever feel like you run into something? That was this weekend, literally. Up the steps to a friend's house, and I tripped on the steps, and fell into the door. Thankfully the child was in the car seat, and was just rather confused as to the ride that was taken.

This blog will be about my adventures in mommying. Juggling marriage, motherhood and being a full time student.

Talk about a full time job!
